An officer with the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) says they are considering using “nontraditional tools” in its battle with the suffering economy.
“For example, it could be useful to purchase significant quantities of longer-term securities such as agency debt, agency mortgage-backed securities and Treasury securities to reduce borrowing costs for a range of longer-term instruments,” Charles Evans said
Sounds funny to me. I was taught that buying and selling securities was the most common form of money policy. This should lower interest rates even further, and maybe slow the rising value of the dollar.
Better yet, since I have most of my money in Euros, bring the dollar down!
